I received my contributor copies of Bicycles & Broomsticks today. I had fun slicing packing tape but did not make an unboxing video because a) I could not be arsed and b) media mail doesn’t make for terribly exciting viewing (but mostly a). I did snap a few pictures, however.
It’s a nice looking book and I’m looking forward to reading the other stories. Writers take note: the lead time on these books is long, but my experience was very positive. And thanks to the success of the Kickstarter, the payment ended up being more than four times the promised minimum. (So still semi-pro rates, but the multiple-cents-per-word sort of semi-pro rate rather than the flat/token sort.) Interested authors should keep an eye on the current (and future) submission calls for Bikes in Space.
